    Can't upload using 9.0.4

    I am just upgrading a client site from 9.0.2 to 9.0.4 along with a complete site re-design.

    I have added a test FTP area which does work fine, but I cannot Publish to web or Refresh the site. When trying any of those options I just get a pointer with the hourglass. Actinic doesn't crash, but just doesn't do anything! I can still go into menu options and even shut it down properly, but why won't it upload!?

    Has anyone else experienced issues with uploading and 9.0.4?

    P.S. This is a pretty big site. A snapshot is around 470Mb.

    If it's that big, it may well be doing the checking process which seems to take ages, whereas you might think it's borked, i've had a few large sites fool me in that area. Set it to upload overnight while you are asleep, set up your ftp options on timeout and retries so it doesn't balls up overnight and you might just have a pleasant surprise in the morning. Compact the database is a must too.

      You could also do a Preview Store to force page checking without uploading to see if it completes. It will take a long time to process a snapshot of that size for the first time - especially oif you have any php cutomisation.

      You can check the processor usage for Catalog.exe and can expect it to stay at 50% (on a dual processor PC) whilst it's busy. If it just stops yet isn't using any CPU then there's something fishy with the snapshot.

        Right, left it running for almost 8 hours overnight and nothing has happened. No pop-up box, no crash, not a sausage!

        Doesn't appear to be doing anything. The CPU Usage is barely even registering and catalog.exe is at 0.

        Looks like something fishy is going on!

        I'm now just trying your suggestion Duncan of doing a Preview Store.

        I'll let you know how it goes.

          A Preview Store has just completed and took approx 25 minutes.

          Any further suggestions or is it time to get support to look at my snapshot?

            I think it's time to call support Richard.

                disappearing uploads are often fixed by changing script ID. Did you try this?

                  I haven't tried this Tracey, but just spoke to support and they seemed to be aware of the issue.

                  I have been given two SQL Queries to run in Access, the I'm suppose to compact the database within Access as well.

                  Haven't tried this yet and just realised that I was only running a trial of Access on this particular machine (which has expired) as I predominantly use a Mac.

                  Just trying to download a trial again now so I can try the fix quickly.

                    This might help you if you don't have Access:

                      Cool! On route to London for a meeting but I'll check it out later.

                      Cheers.

                        Duncan, your tool for updating the mdb worked a treat!

                        SQL queries run, database compacted and refreshing site. This time it is actually doing something so fingers crossed!

                        I'll update later/in the morning so see if it all went through okay but already looking a million times more positive.

                        Thanks all.

                          ..... and? The suspense is killing me. I hope its not still up loading I have been following this as I am having the same problem but I have not contact Actinic yet.
                          Is there any change that you can confirm what the 2 queries were?

                            Hi and sorry I didn't post a reply, was a bit manic then went on holiday.

                            The 2 SQL queries that I got from Actinic Support did work and they are:

                            DELETE * FROM MergeFileState;

                            DELETE * FROM FileList;

                            Good luck! Make sure you back-up first!

                              Hi Richard,
                              Thanks for responding so quickly I have applied the first qry
                              DELETE * FROM MergeFileState;
                              as I did in the meet time have a quick word with Actinic who new exactly what the issue was and stated that it was a known bug!
                              They told me to use the first qry only and it should solve the problem which it has at leasr it has started the upload I have yet to see if it completes
                              So thanks again.
