Shipping drop down £ sign missing

I have tried implementing the Teclan checkout plugin and all works fine except on page 2, in the shipping option drop down box. The price no longer has a £ sign infront but a little square box.

I have tried Teclan support which suggested I try on thing (this was the replace the ShippingTemplate.pl in folder ShipControl with a file they gave me) which didn't work and since then no response.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to try and fix this.

You can see problme at www.viteyes.co.uk and go through the checkout process to see what I mean.

Had the same problem myself - who is your host, what type of server have you got and what level of access to the server do you have?

The quick fix is to add the following line to your htaccess file:

    AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1

There are more advanced settings you can change but this all depends on your level of access to your server.

I will certainly try this but the problem has only occured since adding the Teclan plug-in so am assuming it is an issue with it somehow.

It's most likely an issue with the character set. As default, you require ISO-8859-1 to use a £ sign, especially in Firefox. I had the same problem earlier this year which worked fine in IE/Opera but required further investigation to solve the Firefox issue - editing the httpd.conf file on the server (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf) fixed the problem.

My only question with this is is it possible that an upgrade has caused this?

It was workign fine before I tried this plugin.

Also all the other £ signs are fine on the page, it is just the one in the drop down box to select the delivery option.

What happens if you go to the Design tab and view Checkout Page 2, do you see the £ or the square box? I noticed this happens in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I'd guess this has something to do with the parsing/encoding of Teclan's plug-in, though I may be wrong as I've seen a couple of other sites running the plug-in with no problems which would then lead you to think it's a server-side problem.

Only other advice I can offer is to call Teclan
