Tips and Tricks for Performance in Actinic v9

    Dear all,

Firstly, I want to thank you all for your suggestions relating to the issue of improving Actinic’s performance.

I would also like to draw your attention to the new area of the Knowledge base, which has been specifically designed to improve performance in Actinic v9, and includes many of your suggestions. There are a range of tips, covering everything from improving the general performance of Windows, to more specific advice relating to areas of the software that have a tendency to perform slowly.

Please see these articles below. More fixes and tips will be added in the near future so please check back here again, and in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to pass on any other suggestions which you think may be relevant:

How to improve the performance of Actinic’s content tab:

Improve the performance of Actinic’s orders tab:

Improve the performance of Actinic’s design tab:

Improve the performance of Actinic’s checkout pages on your site:

Thanks Paul, defragging the drive and then compacting the database changed an unresponsive V8.5.3 into a shiny new model, many many thanks for the time I will now save.

We are using the latest version of Actinic and have a linked database (created in MS Access) for some of the user defined variables we have set up. All works well when Actinic is running, however it takes 12 minutes from clicking on the Actinic icon to actually being able to use Actinic. Often we have to tell customers that we will call them back as we are waiting for the system to load.

If we remove the linked database it takes only 10-20 seconds to get up and running - however this means that the products are missing most of their information which is important to our customers.

This has always been the case, even in version 8.

Any suggestions as how to speed this up?
