Whilst we are talking about Soapbox, which we use and think it's great, one thing I would like to be able to do would be respond to customer reviews.

For example a customer may say "I bought blah blah but it doesn't do blah blah" and give a very negative review of the item purchased. Now it might be that what they actually bought does do what they want it to do they just haven't read the manual yet but the review sits on the site and looks very bad. What we would like to be able to do is repsond underneath the review and say "Actually it does do blah blah you just need to do this ....." and turn the negative review in to something more positive.

Not a perfect solution by any means, but what we do is edit the review before posting to add a comment from us in brackets. We've only done it once or twice - to point out that the customer didn't communicate with us/ordered the wrong thing/didn't read the information - but it redresses the balance AND allows us to show we're not only publishing positive feedback.

We've been considering Soapbox for a while - can I ask those of you using it - what sort of percentage of your customers take the trouble to come back and write a review, and is there a noticeable trend for reviewing the product and the supplier's performance, or just the product?

        Thanks
        Kind Regards

It's a tiny percentage but customers definitely use the reviews to make their purchase choices. We tend to get both service and product reviews, largely positive

Thanks for tip guccij, will try that with the next negative review.

Regarding the customer use of the reviews, just about the same as guccij, very low number who actually do review products. Then the majority do seem to just review the product and then maybe put a in quick line about great service or very fast delivery etc.

Does anybody know if I can increase the amount of characters you can enter in a review. It is set to 300 but I have some fussy customers who like to leave very detailed reviews. Ideally I would set it to about 1000.

Any help would be appreciated. I have contact the company but thought someone else may have already found a fix.

Thanks Darren. To clarify, the character limit on Soapbox is set to 300 by default but is not configurable from within the user interface. If anyone needs more than 300 characters, please email me via the website and I can increase the limit for you.
