Product Groups

For historical reasons we have a complicated system of discounts and I am trying to work out how I can set a product group of products that are discounted at a set % for a particular customer group, however, those products are not exclusive to that customer group and only some of them can be ordered by other customer groups or via web discount vouchers at a different discount level. I can only put the products in one product group at a time and I think I will need to separate out the products into several smaller groups and setup several individual discounts for each customer goup which will end up being a giant size set of discounts and extremely difficult to test out or modify as products change.

Does anyone know a simpler way of applying multiple discounts?

Perhaps you need to copy-paste some of the products, so that they can be placed in multiple groups, that can ease the lack of multiple groups problem. NOt great for product management though, but a possibility.
