Allowing more orders than I can take

I have noticed that Actinic V8 when using stock monitoring allows customers to order more than is available. AN example being we might stock say 3 items but on the website it allows the customer to buy say 5 items. Its only at the point of download that this gets picked up, by which time its too late.

Apart from holding more stock that I actually need is there another way to resolve this ?

Does version 9 resolve it ?

Always been the same, discussed a number of times already. Fingers crossed it will be sorted in V10. "rmorrow" on the forum has a live solution, you could use that if concerned enough in this area. Sounds like you need to schedule an upload and download more often, again hopefully this pretty standard feature will be in V10, but in the meantime you can buy a plugin to do that also.

I found that simply showing the quantity you have in stock on the website greatly helped this problem.

Given that real time stock control should be in V10, one would certainly hope so, watch this space in about 6 months time for a final answer.

Not sure if this would help or not, but I don't think it has been mentioned yet; setting the "maximum qty orderable" to be equal to the "stock on hand" will ensure that people can only buy 3 and not 5.

You still need to download and upload to update the stock levels, and you'd need to change the "max qty" field each time for each product [unless you used Mole End's software to do this automatically, each time] but it would at least go some way to addressing the issue.

It will be out in about 6 months i reckon, there will be a V10 forum when it's out there.
