Stock codes/ Inventory/Components/Attributes

I was looking at products with components on Actinic and wondering how it worked with stock codes.

For instance

Say we have

Star Wars Jedi costume age 3 -4 code R882016S 4 in stock
Star Wars Jedi costume age 5-6 code R882016M 8 in stock

How can I list these in Actinic and manage stock levels?

Because using components, you have

Star Wars Jedi costume R882016

then

component: Size
attribute: Size
Choice: 3 - 4 ; 5 - 6

So how do you differentiate between the fact you only have 4 size 3-4 in stock.

I hope someone can clarify.

Create a hidden product for each choice and associate that hidden product to the choice in the list. That way when bought, each choice is equivalent to buying a physical product. Been discussed on here many times over the years, "hidden products" is probably a good search term to start with. The inbuilt help on choices, attributes and permutations is invaluable also, some very good info inside.

I would advise you to install the Actinic trial on another machine and look at the default data - in particular the Computer section which has some clever hidden products (available to buy online) - the Options (Permutations) are set at product level, pricing is set to Associated Product - you then use the hidden product to use for stock level as Lee mentioned.

Reading Lee's post unless you've done this before you will be completely oblivious to what he is on about - the default data provided with Actinic shows exactly how this works.
