    Rrp

    Hi,
I am trying to get the RRP displayed alongside my prices, and I have followed the AUG to do this and all seems OK apart from the fact I cannot find where I put the figure for the RRP.
I have followed this and all is showing as it should I think

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

set the following in the variable:

    Name: RRP
    Prompt: RRP Price
    Place of Setting: Product
    Type: Text
    Allow Empty Value: ticked

Make a note of the 'Panel Name' as this is where the field will appear on the product for you to enter the value (you can change this if you wish or create new panel)

      Panel Name

      Hi,
I can find the drop down relating to this in properties but if I am doing a csv import how do I get this to work as this is not showing a RRP in the map fields.
      Cheers.

I think the answer is here http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44771

You need to use a hierarchical import for this.

          Thanks.
I will have to scrap this as I am not using hierarchical files and haven't got time to start to get my head around them.
          Cheers anyway.

Using an hierarchical import to do what you want is very straight forward. Look at the attached grab of a simple Excel csv import file to do what you want.

              Hi,
I am using the attached format of sheet.
I can understand it if it is simply a case of adding another colum n with the rrp in it but how can I then match this to a map field as the rrp does not appear in it.
              Thanks.

What you posted is a flat file not an heirarchical one. Try creating one based on my example. The RRP should map automatically if you created it per the KB and the variable name matches the column header.

You only need to fill in columns B and C.

                  Hi,
                  Thanks again for the reply.
Is there no way of converting my existing file into a hierachical one?
                  Cheers.

The simplest is just to cut and paste all the product references in your column A and paste them into my example column B. Then add the RRP alongside. You don't need all the other info you have in your file to do this.

You could try the FlatFileConverter.exe in the Actinic v8 directory it will convert your flat file to an heirarchical one. But as I said above you don't need much data to do this - certainly not all the other fields in your file.

V9 allows custom variables in an external spreadsheet to be dynamically linked, doesn't V8 do this? (V7 didn't)

                          Hi Duncan,
Thanks, the reason I am trying to avoid do a seperate spreadhseet for the rrp is that I have about 9 different files pertaining to different products, for me this is the easiest way to keep all my different products organised.
That is the reason making another spreadsheet for the rrp's then becomes a load of files to do as I have lookups in each file which in itself isn't a problem but they (the products) are in alpha numerical order which would mean copying and pasting numbers would involve creating a shed load of lookups once more ontop of this is the fact that the said products are looking up a dozen different suppliers spreadhseets.
                          Hope that makes sense.
                          Thanks.

If you are only creating or updating product data (i.e. your Sections already exist in Actinic) from your flat file, then you only need to add 2 more columns to your spreadsheets for the hierarchical import to work.

Add your RRP column to the end of the sheet (column G from your Book2 example).

Then, insert a new column A and on row 1 enter "Header:Product", then on rows 2 onwards, enter "Product" (as per Duncan's example).

Now, export from Excel as normal and import into Actinic using the hierarchical method.

                            Snapshot first, just in case.

                            Hope that helps.
