Can not connect to Sage Database. Invalid data path

OK having read through a number of threads i can not find anything to help.

As the title suggests this is what i get if i try to export orders to sage or export product stock to actinic.

I have no idea what the problem is i have restarted the pc and i checked and restarted alot of services but still nothing

Im using XP and sage 2007 everything have been fine up until today when i decided to export a number of orders and do a stock update but everytime i try i get the error. Now sage is working fine i can ammend stock levels etc

so im looking for some pointers before i start uninstalling stuff, seems odd that it has just stopped working

Have a look under control panel, add or remove programs, and check the box 'Show Updates'.
It should give you a list then of what updates have been installed and on what date

Are both programs on the same computer or is it over a network?

Have you checked the path to sage that actinic is using. I can't think why it might have changed but it's always worh checking.

Sage did change the data location in sage 2008 and I do wonder if something might have been changed to accomodate this?

The default Data paths have changed at Sage 2008. These are now set depending on the OS.

NB – In pre Sage 2008 versions the Company file was in the Sage Program Folder. The actual data would be in a subfolder of the Program Folder i.e. C:\Program Files\Sage 2007\Accounts

Windows Vista and Windows 7 – Data is in ->

                C:\Program Data\Sage\Accounts\2008

Windows XP – Data is in ->

                C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2008\
Just thinking about what the error mesage might mean.

                  Thanks Mike

Im using sage 2007 and everything was fine last time i ran it

If i open link and edit the profile when i click connect it fails aswell, im using the following path which im sure is the correct one as i have never changed it
                  C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts\ACCDATA\

Im wondering if i will have to uninstall link and reinstall it again, which is a right PITA as i will have to set everything back up again. Time to do screen prints i think

Other than that you could always download FileMon and see what is happening.

                      http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896642.aspx

It might show something up when you load up sage, or try and connect. Could be something like a OCDB driver issue, who knows. Apart from that i don't know, probably would help if I have used the link, but i haven't.

Sorry i can't you more Darren.

                            OK

All sorted now, the problem was with sage the pctrans.dta file seems to be corrupted. It looks to me as though i have a hard drive going tits up.

Shifted everything to another pc, reinstalled sage and restored a previous backup, i had to go back 4 weeks to find one that worked but everything seems to be sorted now.
