    stock allocations

This is just a general post not a problem as such.

I currently link to sage and then do stock allocation ect and stock ordering through it.

The trouble with sage is we found it a bit sluggish and couldnt get various stock info we required through sage. So....we've had a new system built in MS access which drags all the information from sage and puts it into a very easy to use format (also means unlimited users). It also emails customers through outlook at certain stages of the sale, it even automatically generates an email 4 days after delivery to make sure the customer is ok and much more. This new system we've had built has literally saved us so much time, effort and money. It means customers are very easy to find also...

If anyone out there has any problems with sorting out their stocking/ delivery situation give me a shout.

I would also be interested in any other solutions people have been using for stock control and deliveries,. Some people I know are using sage 200 which is quite expensive.

Sorry if ive posted in the wrong place.

    Hello Lynne

As you can probably tell from my signature, I'm interested in anything to do with stock control!

In reading what you've done, I was wondering where does Actinic fit into this? Are you using any of its order processing functions or is it all done in Sage / your new database?

Some users of SageLink find it a little unreliable, particularly where refunds / modified orders are concerned (where these are initiated in Actinic). Do you have any problems in this area?

What about stock levels on your website? Are these based on Actinic's stock or does your database hold the 'master' information?

      stock

      Hi,

I don't use actinic for stocking because I would like to fire emails off to the relevant manufacturer when stock has reached a certain level and create purchase orders ect.

Actinic only comes into really as its what i use and i link it to sage..therefore all orders are put straight into sage and then purchase orders are created. The database I have had made simply drags out the info from sage in a better format. For some strange reason I can get info in a format that sage doesnt do even though all the info is from sage.

The good news is....I'm having the system set up so it's gonna drag the orders straight from actinic and into my bespoke system (missing out sage). The bespoke system will then create purchase orders and allocate stock ect so i can track all stock history. It will also enable to quickly create refund invoices and add items back into stock ect from returns and the like.

As soon as the item is shipped the system will create a sales invoice which is sent straight through to sage which our accounts can recon with the bank to make sure payment has been taken.

I am going live with it on sept 1st. I reckon it's a lot cheaper than going with sage 200. Once I have the program set up im sure it can be tweaked to meet peoples needs. I'll update some more soon and see if I can show you some screen shots ect when it's up and running.
