    Site Back up issue

    Hi,
Is there a way of donwloading the site to actinics after it has been uploaded? We had to do a full system restore on our computer so lost alot of things. The snapshots we have for the site are a few months old and quite a bit has changed since doing this! I know that we should make regular snapshots and save them at a different location but unfortunately we hadn't.
So id there a way i could download what is up and running on the web? If not through Actinics maybe through a separate FTP client?
    Thanks
    Leigh

you can recover the images and the descriptions on the page but these need reinstating back into Actinic. When you close Actinic v9 ensure the backup option is ticked as you can not get the info back.

Doing a system restore should not have blitzed the Actinic site data though.

      ok,
When I say we done a full system restore, I meant that we restored the computer back to its factory settings and lost everything that was stored on it.

When you say we could get the images and descriptions on the pages, would this be done by going to the live site on a web browser and just saving the images from there or from going through an FTP client and finding them.

The snapshot that we have is not too different I dont think, Most of the design is the same its just new products had been added and some old ones taken off. And If need be we could use this.

I would FTP to the server and download the whole /actalog/ folder and the index.html page ..... save to a temp folder... just in case! You can then trawl the pages for the missing images and the text.

It may be easier to use a web browser and save from the live site - especially if not many changes - BUT I would still keep the FTP download as well.

Work from your last snapshot and go through a section (page) at a time reinstating everything. Don't forget the business settings, delivery charges etc

use an ftp client such as Filezilla to access thewebspace, download the images and html pages.

you can get the product info from the html pages and put back into actinic using your old snapshot.

Sadly you will have lost your order info

You may want to look at an offsite backup service such as carbonite which backs ups your data in the background to a secure remotes server ... a proper ACD snapshot is still your best solution though.
