What Newsletter Software do people use?

    Hi,

Has there been a recent discussion on what external Newsletter software package anyone seems to favour? I've done a quick search on the likes of 'newsletter software' but nothing seems to come up.

I'm looking at Group Mail, iContact, AWebber, Constant Contact etc. - any favourites out there?

    Dorian.

We use the newsletter software which is part of our 1and1 Business Pro package. We only do 5-6 a year but it's very cheap and customisable.

        Campaign Monitor

I've been using Campaign Monitor - no monthly subscription, just pay for the number of subscribers. also you can import your list of subscribers without too much hassle. no need to have each new subscriber agree to being signed up - which can be a pain when importing large lists of email addresses into other newletter packages.

i would strongly recommend - based on my own experience.

Thanks all - I'll take a look at all of them. I'm currently using the free version of Group Mail but you can only have 100 email addresses per email so at the moment I have to manually send the email to about 30 diffreent 'groups' of 100 recipients.

The other thread seemed to be against emails sent fom you desktop over those sent from an online account because of issues of being seen as SPAM etc. I don't think Group Mail offer the chance of seing stats on how many of your emails get through and how many are opened or not, but that is something that would be pretty useful to know.

For anyone interested, I've done a bit of reseach - hope this helps anyone.

              Based on 3,000 customers pcm:

              Your Mailing List Provider - www.yourmailinglistprovider.com - £10.5-£14 (2,501 - 7,500 emails). Only 10 templates
              MailChimp - www.mailchimp.com - $50 (2,501 - 5,000 emails). Lots of templates and easy to use.
Constant Contact - www.constantcontact.com - $50 (2,501 - 5,000 emails). Free templates, though they aren't very e-commerce specific (i.e. don't look like they would be good for putting in lots of products). A bit slow and sluggish and email wasn't sent right away - it was 'scheduled' - I had to await confirmation that it had been sent - took ages. Tried again and it 'hung' on me while I was editing a template. And again and again and again. Keeps on hanging - ummmmm.
Group Mail - www.group-mail.com - Free for basic version, $139.95 for Personal Edition (unlimited emails and 20 templates so could be used for small business) and $349.95 for Business Edition.
iContact - www.icontact.com - $47 (2,501 - 5,000 emails). 250 Free Templates + Surveys. Good product templates (allow multiple products in them) but tricky to edit which defeats point of having good template
AWebber - www.aweber.com - $49 (2,501 - 5,000 emails). 103 templates (look a bit dull) and reporting stats look good (but not as good as Campaign Monitor's). Only one who's verification email went to my Junk folder -and they wanted $1 and card details before using the 'trial'
Vertical Response - www.verticalresponse.com - - $46 (2,001 - 4,000 emails). Offers Online Surveys as well, but don't say if this is part of the package or extra.
Elysiummail - www.elysiummail.co.uk - £30 (1,001 - 5,000 emails). Free templates and stats. Priced in GBP - so they at least knows there's life outside of the US. The patriotic choice.
Campaign Monitor - www.campaignmonitor.com - $35 per mailing for 3,000 (1 cent an email plus $5). No templates but looks good if you run multiple marketing campaigns for clients Their reports look great (if you like detailed stats and graphs that resemble Google Analytics). Really easy to use but templates are pretty hopeless and once you have imported a template or your own you can no longer edit anything on it. Seems really for developers and those who maintain multiple sites and clients than individual newsletters.

                    iContact - www.icontact.com - $9.99 (unlimited emails),
According to their website, http://www.icontact.com/pricing/ Icontact's monthly pricing is

                    2,500 $29.00
                    5,000 $47.00

So $47.00 for the 3,000 customer comparison (but you can send multiple emails to your customers each month for that).

Thanks - that makes much more sense. I took it from here as I didn't see a pricing list anywhere : http://www.icontact.com/home2. I'll correct the post.

Over the years we've used quite a few; we started with email brain, several years ago, but that just hasn't developed at all and in fact the editing tool is still named 'editor 2007', we then went onto Groupmail, then Tecmail but I have to say I now give 5 ***** to MailChimp.
Excellent design templates, flexibility, power, you can even sync your own customer base on their API thus no constant cleaning or updating of lists.
Worth a try for what I believe is such an essential element of e-commerce, save you £000's in cpc and often overlooked.
