Actinic ace wanted to upgrade site in v7 to v9

    Hi,

Is there anyone here who can upgrade a site running in v7 to v9, maintaining all the same functionalty etc. How much would you charge? We want to go from the obsolete HTML 6 that v7 renders in over to CSS and v9 handles style sheets etc.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Maybe an idea to post a URL so the site can be seen? Not going to be a reliable quote if the work involved cannot be seen.

I'd rather not unless someone signs an NDA. Sorry if that sounds awkward - it's not meant to. We have other commercial interests with this company that could be compromised if it was all out in the open. The current site is basically an actinic catalogue! Nothing else. We want that upgraded page for page into v9 whereupon we're going to make it into the 'shop' part of a bigger site.

Perhaps if someone is willing to quote me a best and worst case price and I like the sound of it then we can sign an NDA and talk details!

PS, I was told by Actinic that the upgrade is an easy job for someone versed in Actinic and a bit of CSS. Is that true?

The usual recommendation for a V7 to V9 upgrade is a complete redesign, although the actual product data should be OK to bring through.

When I upgraded I only had a small shop so did a complete redesign using CSS and re-entered the product data again as I had so few products and was therefore not a problem.

To change from v7 to v9 you would be looking at 'starting from scratch' on the design side, and porting the products over into the new design.
The upgrade path from v7 to v8/v9 is messy one and is best done from fresh, else you will have all sorts of crazy coding in there.

Prices i have seen and quoted vary from £1k to £10k+.
It's hard to put a price on it as there are so many factors involved e.g. Number of Products, functionality, integration etc without seen what has been done and what needs to be achieved

there is no way you are going to get a workable cost without disclosing the required design and more info on required functionality.

you should ask interested parties to contact you, you can then get details of their previous work - choose your favourites then ask them to quote under NDA. Anything else is timewasting.
