Moving Sections by modifying the database fields?

    Hi all

In our website, each product is contained within it's own section and these are grouped together within overall sections. For one product group, we would like to move the "product sections" (which also contain products) from one overal section to another...

However v9 is not particulary reliable when moving sections in the GUI. Usually it crashes resulting in loss of data in the database.

Therefore I was wondering if it was possible to move the "product sections" by changing a field in the database (e.g. a "parent section value") to point the section from one parent section to another?!?

Is this possible and has anyone done it?

    Regards

might be worth trialling the beta 9.0.5 as this claims to have resolved the crashes.

alternately i'd look at hieraracical import to move the sections.

I wouldn't recommend trying to do this in the database directly - try using cut and paste instead of drag and drop.

        Hi

Cut and paste is just as unreliable as drop and drag unfortuanately.

We find we are moving sections/products in groups of 10 and even then, after a while it still crashes.

From looking through the new version details I think it is worth upgrading to the next 9.0.5 - we are currently on 0.3 and I am sure some of the issues we are experiencing in other areas (such as uploads) would also be addressed.
