    Uploading error

When i try to upload i get the following error message

Actinic received a server error from the web server. The CGI scripts are not executing properly on the server. The error could be caused by several things. Check:
    - the 'Path to the Perl shell'
    - the 'CGI script extension'
    - the 'Path to CGI-BIN'
    - the 'CGI-BIN URL.
    - the amount of web space left on your server
    - if your server is configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts
    - the permissions on the server:

On Linux/Unix based servers the permissions should be:
    cgi-bin (755) – drwxr-xr-x
Online Store Folder (777) – drwxrwxrwx
On Windows based servers (need to be checked with the hosting company):
    IIS
    cgi-bin = read/execute
    Online Store Folder = read/write/execute
    NTFS
cgi-bin = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory
Online Store Folder = Catalog's FTP account needs 'Change' permissions on the directory AND the IUSR_<servername> account needs to have 'Change' permissions on the directory

Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration

I've contacted Actinic help and it appears it uploads fine on their server but not on ours (Servage)

I sent the same message to Servage but all i get is

''I am sorry but I am unable to replicate your issue, kindly provide us the exact link and steps to replicate your issue so that we can check and assist you in a better way.

    Kind Regards
    Adam, Support
    Servage Hosting

How can i send them links and steps if it only happens when uploading? Or is there another way to solve the problem from my end (apart from using a server with phone support )

Changing hosts is probably quickest way to solve it. Did you check that actinic works with this host and have you searched the forum for the correct network settings for this provider? There's a forum specifically for this type of problem, search in there, it's where this should be also.

I agree with Lee, that would be the quickest solution - however if you want to stay where you are try running a network test and see what errors you get there. I'm assuming that you have checked the permissions on the directories on your server (I recall having a permissions problem once where making cgi-bin 777 stopped upload working, so don't give them to many permissions)

We've been with Servage for a while with no problems.

It all started when i tried to go onto SPP using this method http://www.websitedesigned.co.uk/actinic-spp.htm

The page I put up wouldn't show on the site so I contacted Actinic support.

The guy seemed to think it was my settings so he altered some but without any success, knocking me off the web in the process.

I put the settings back to what they were but then the error messages came up But I don't know if it was altering settings that did it.

I can do a network test and it passes ok.

On contacting Actinic again they are convinced that it's the server but it seems a coincidence that it all started with network settings

its very if not extremely unlikely that SPP will have caused the issue, more likely the fact that the site needed updating, the same would have happened if you had changed a few prices.

If you are convinced the network settings are correct then do a complete site purge and refresh from the troubleshooting menu.

Otherwise change host, use someone proven with actinic.

I searched the forum for "servage" and notice this isn't the first time you'd had problems with them.
