    Codepath SPP Plugin

    Firstly let me say that I have tried contact Codepath but they are on annual leave and I know that some users use this forum.

    I have the Codepath SPP plugin and have noticed a problem with product duplicates. When you add a product to the cart using the section add to cart button it gives the following error:

    The following product(s) can not be added to the cart.
    # You can find the error description(s) by following the link(s).**Product Name**

    Anyone got any ideas about this one as it seems to defeat the object of having single product pages for duplicates if you have to create a "non duplicate" duplicate product.

    I dont know how Codepath SPP works but when i want a duplicate on a site which has been manually set up with SPP i create the subsection for the duplicate product and then create a dup and drag it to the section i just created.

      Clunky clunky, duplicatey duplicatey Croccy, surely you can come up with something cleverer than that. Setup a product layout to duplicate the section layout, you only need to duplicate products then, no duplicate pages. You can then set the duplicate to link back to the master SPP page. Reduces site size, reduces uploading time, reduces snapshot sizes and improves internal linking across the site. That's not a win, win, it's a win, win, win, win.

        This section is returning results from duplicate products linked to sections and other products.

          Nice one Wes.

          This is my best example of this method, the top left product on both pages link to the same place.

          http://www.quantumelectronics.co.uk/...-speakers.html

          and

          http://www.quantumelectronics.co.uk/...Acoustics.html

          2nd link is a product layout, 1st is a section link layout.

          After many musings, i finally got things to do the linking automatically, just duplicate the product where you want it and it does the rest.

              having a problem linking the images.

              I managed to link them on the original pages.

              Trying to put ahref around the image tag but the actinic variable for the image seems a bit elusive.

              this is what code we have
              <td align="center">
              <img alt="<actinic:variable name="ProductName" />" src="<actinic:variable name="ProductThumbnailImageFileName" />" border="0" />
              </td>

              The text link for the product name is generated from the actinic variable 'productdescription' , the product description is linked by [LINK] to the relevant subsection or product.

              Getting there

                Hi, i see your linking does not go through the cgi bin, mine appears to although the original products do not. Any ideas.

                  LOL....

                  I am getting very stale aren't I? TBH i haven't done any design work for over a year... and now it shows. I'll go back to the day job of hosting.

                    I think because you are using the [LINK] feature, i don't use that. There's about 4 or 5 ways of doing this. I started at the worst manual method and slowly worked out how to do the best automatic method. This was all over the space of a few months in all honesty.

                      I think with actinic you need to be doing it regularly, after a year off, i'd forget so much, i'd probably fall apart adding a permutation.

                        i might have to live without the image linking, i am sure a customer will click on the text, (if they want some sweets they will have to!)
                        These duplicate linked products will only be about on a seasonal basis.
                        Tried 4 or 5 ways to get the href in there but it ither links to the main section or nothing at all.

                        Saves lots of time on creating new subsections with duplicate text issue though.

                          Indeed its scary, actinic is quite complex in certain areas (which is not a bad thing as it allows for more flexibility once you know how it works), being on the outside now does help to gain insight as to how a newbie must feel.

                            That is a good point Jo. Actinic's flexibility makes it so complex in some respect that few people understand how to truly manage it. IMO product pages need a re-think to avoid all this complexity.

                              Forgive me if I am wrong but I think you are all missing the point that Iwas trying to make here. Let me explain it more clearly.

                              If you go to http://www.supplement-warehouse.co.u..._Products.html all the products on this page are duplicate products. The single product pages were created with the plugin.

                              Originally the page showing had an add to cart button for each product (which I have now removed) that when you clicked on gave the error message I mentioned. This error message only occured if the product was a duplicate product and not an original one..
