    Backing Up

I have a few large sites that take ages to back up using the snapshot function.

Am I right in thinking that if I have a snapshot of a site where the design remains the same I can just take a copy of the database and use that with the old snapshot if there is a problem?

Yes, but a copy of the complete Site folder together with an older snapshot would be better.

Should be fine. We use mole end's easy order backup for the database.

Not familiar with V9 - am I right in thinking that if you have a copy of the entire site folder, you don't even need the snapshot?

Pretty much - a backup of your computers Registry would virtually guarantee everything was backed up (Start>Run>regedit) This is what I've been doing for a few months as I can't be arsed with 0 byte snapshots anymore.

I seem to remember (probably V6) that we restored a site by reinstalling Actinic (exact same version as used before PC failed), setting up a new site in Actinic with the same site name as previously, then copying the site folder backup into the new site folder and bingo. So using something like NTI Shadow to backup the site folder daily might be a much quicker option. Of course it wouldn't hurt to have an old snapshot lying around as well..........

ACD's and full site copies are the best solution - not least for helping you to sleep but especially with multisite installations.

I would always include at least one snapshot to capture the encryption key and authorisation code etc.
