MetaDescription not working

When I go to Design>Library>Layouts 'Meta Tags' layout, isnt there?

Am I missing something...apart from a brain

Err...I don't know how the entire layout group could disappear as you can't delete default layouts, only layouts you have created yourself.

The Layouts list should be like:

Login Layout
Marketing Message
Messages for Unregistered Customers
Meta Tags
Month Layout
Month List
MOTO Cart Discount List

Are you saying Meta Tags is missing from this list?

No doubt there will be, but I ain't sure how as I've never personally experienced this, so unless someone else has an idea, it'll be off to Support for this one I'm afraid

The MOTO options suffered from the same disease in previous versions, make sure you are on the latest version, if that doesn't do anything, then try a design snapshot to bring them in from a default store.

Just called support...however, to get any I have to purchase 'cover' crazy when this layout is obviously missing from my installation

You can register a support query via email. Can you take a look at an older snapshot, maybe the one you first sent to your client and see if problem was the same then.

I just opend up a default design and thats not showing any meta tags when I view source either....grrrrrrrr

I was suffering from duplicate meta descriptions highlighted in Google.

I had to Settings > Site Options > Links > Section > Include Parent Meta Content In Each Section to False. My solution to meta descriptions in brochure pages is detailed in above thread.
