    Hello,

Please can someone shed some light on these errors I really don't know what they mean, When my client tries to do a snapshot export she gets this error.

File SnapshotWizard.cpp, Line 679 - Archive error 5 - The compression operation failed
Library error - Can not open file .\\psl\Home\Documents\Actinic v9\site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb! has been caught.

My client gets this error when she leaves the site and Actinic wants to compact the databases

There was a problem compacting the database
    .\\psl\Home\Documents\Actinic v9\site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb with the database.
    .\\psl\Home\Documents\Actinic v9\site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb
The reported error was: Drivers ConfigDSN, ConfigDriver, or ConfigTranslator failed please use exporer to investigate the problem.
Actinic will now close and must be restarted.

    Please can someone help me

    Thank you

Oh ok I will give it a go, do you think it has anything to do with the fact my client has a Mac with Microsoft/PC operating system? she only installed that so Actinic would work on a Mac? I read on another thread

It looks like you may have a corruption in your MDAC, a Microsoft component of Windows that allows applications to connect to MS databases. The Actinic program uses this to connect to the Access database it uses.

Firstly, export a full snapshot somewhere safe.

If you're running XP with SP2, you can force a reinstallation of the MDAC component:

Locate the mdac.inf file in c:\windows\inf right click and choose install
When prompted for a location goto c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 then when promtped for the XP cd, load the CD

This reinstalls / repairs MDAC 2.8

If you're using a version of XP prior to SP2, you can download MDAC from MS's website. You can't (apparently) use this version however on SP2, hence the method above.

If this fails, you'll need to reinstall Actinic to the current version you're using and reimport your snapshot

I had a similar problem with my MDAC and the repair did the trick.

Please make sure you a have a full backup before trying this!
I dont really understand any of it myself but im not sure if this has anything to do with it?

      Please can someone help?

      Many thanks

        update

I have an update on this, I asked the client to send me their site 1 folder as she could not send a snapshot and I added all the files replacing my old ones and I have managed to compact the database and export the site, so I guess it must be the way her machine is configured, I don't really know what to go back with her with, has anyone got any suggestions?

Also she has parallels desktop 4.0 for a mac installed and then ms windows xp pro sp3 if that helps?

        Thanks
        Angi

          Update 2

I had some help with Actinic support and they told us to try

          1. Please can you check in 'Control panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) for an entry 'ActinicCatalog9'

Which it did and then we were told

          2. In this case, can you switch off all Actinic software, go to 'Control panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)' and in the DSN window double click on 'ActinicCatalog9' and click the repair button, and browse to the site folder and click the 'OK' button. And please can you check that other related entries in the 'User DSN' window that also must exist, there must also be 'ActinicOriginal9', 'ActinicSimpleShipping9' and 'ActinicSupport9'.

Once we did this it fixed the problem for us.

Hope this helps someone else in the future.

          thanks

I'm having the exact same problem as Angi (compacting databases) was, but when I follow her instructions it doesn't fix it for me:

            2. In this case, can you switch off all Actinic software, go to 'Control panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)' and in the DSN window double click on 'ActinicCatalog9' and click the repair button, and browse to the site folder and click the 'OK' button. I am having the same problem using Parallels 5 on a Mac with XP and my client with Parallels 5 and Windows 7. I have tried this on multiple sites, but all get the same error:

There was a problem compacting the database
            .\\psf\Home\Documents\Actinic v9\Sites\Site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb with the database.
            .\\psf\Home\Documents\Actinic v9\Sites\Site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb
The reported error was: Drivers ConfigDSN, ConfigDriver, or ConfigTranslator failed please use exporer to investigate the problem.
Actinic will now close and must be restarted.

I have tried it on another Mac that uses Parallels 3 and that doesn't any errors, so there is obviously something weird with Parallels 5.

I will also be trying to get help from Parallels, but if anyone has any ideas or has resolved this issue then I'd really appreciate your feedback.
