Add to cart on home page

I am sure I have seen somewhere that explains how to have an add to cart on a product on home page - however 30 mins of trawling the forum and looking at the Knowledge Base and I can't find it!

Firstly is it possible and if so can someone point me in the right direction on how to do it.
