Editing the Add to cart text

I know that you can change the button if you have the 'Text for Cart Button' field but in V6 you could amend this for ANY product. I could easily have 'Book Class' or 'Buy DVD' etc for each product but it seems I can't do this now? Have I missed something?

It's easy to add this capability. Go to Design / Library / Layouts / Variables / Product. Double click CartButtonText. Check Section and Product.

Also check Allow <Use Parent>... and set Initial Value to Use Parent ().

OK out.

Now you can tweak this setting per product on the General tab / Product.
