    order fails (urgent)

When placing orders and going thru checkout, the following error occurs

An error occured while creating the order numbers lock file. Error encountered: ($s). Actinic cannot create a unique order number blah blah blah

    original msg:

    Any clues?

We had the site transfered to a new server and the hosting service people assured me there won't be any problems. They was wrong !

Have you done a full website purge and refresh via housekeeping? You should never have just the files transferred by the host - if they move anything you need to republish regardless of what they tell you. Often websites stop working at is is due to the host moving the servers and simply copying stuff over without telling anyone.

you can do a server to server move, just taking the files over - we do it all the time (with prior consultation of course) the site continues to work, during and after the move.

The only inconvenience is that the website has to re-sync with its uploading pc, thus the next upload is always a refresh.

At least you tell people they are moving - nothing scares a site owner more than not being told and then seeing the Actinic warning... the faceless big hosts do this with impunity.

In the server /actalog/ folder rename order.num & backup.num to temp names eg !!order.num (in case you need to roll back) and then upload the site.
