Compressed Upload

We have just had the Perl module Archive::zip installed on our server, to enable compressed uploads.
Does anyone know - do we have to take down the site and completely refresh it for the compression to work, or will it just start working on updates and refreshes from now on, on the existing site installation?

Switch it on in FTP options in network setup. Actinic will switch it off after you do an upload if it has not worked.
