    Actinic trials?

    Hi,

Found out this morning while trying to publish to web in trial mode that account had expired. called support and was told to simply register for another free account.

did this, switched in web-network settings to working mode and then switched back to trial to get access to window to add username/password etc. as received for trial site. Added new password etc.

But, hit the publish to web again and the software seems to be freezing? nothing happening except the spinning circle (Vista) and then not responding? close Actinic, opens up again fine, try again - same thing?

    Any ideas?

    thank you

I've tried this MANY times now and I'm getting really worried? If i add the new details and then hit refresh website it still freezes and on checking the network settings, evry time it's reverting back to the url for the older trial site?

      Any ideas anyone?

      Thanks

Just to correct myself here it is using the new url from the test site which is: http://trials.actinic.com/trials/trial59212/ but every time I hit refresh website nothing seems to happen, just spinning timer on mouse arrow?? If I close actinic I get the 'clunk' noise (error sound) because it looks as if it's trying to do something but not?

BTW it's V 9.0.3.0.0.0 is it perhaps not the very latest version? the last test site worked OK last week til the 30days test time ran out?

        ????

Uninstall, reinstall IMO. Registry probably scarred from the battle.

or Start, Run, cmd, ipconfig /flushdns

this will clear the dns on your machine, just in case the old dns is getting in the way

              Hi guys

tried the RUN cmd first - no difference. Uninstalled Actinic after saving snapshot, re-installed from scratch and imported site snapshot, left network settings as they were (as they seemed OK) and then tried again . . exactly same thing is happening??

              Any ideas?

REALLY worried now as I am about to upload site for real soon . . this is the first BIG issue I've had with it.

              Thanks

PS: Deleted and then re-copied pasted the password/username info several times and still the same . . could it be the trials site data? I flippin hope so!

So! I have even tried registering a NEW trial site - that didn't work neither! So, I decided to import my REAL network settings for my existing site and then, go thru the Convert and password etc and STILL the same damn problem

OK, so now I'm really worried!

Spoke to Support this morning: Looks like this has been a known issue and they are sending me a vbs file with the direct path to my site1 folder that when launched, will fix this problem (I hope!)

It's to do with any text fields containing previous paths and info in the network settings so as soon as I have done it, i'll report back. Went thru process of deleting ALL text fields and paths to folders or CGI's etc first and then clicked Convert but it still didn't work so this file will fix it I am sure (please!)

Cheers for trying tho Lee and Jo, MUCH appreciated

                  B.

i should have suggested changing the script id earlier then restarting actinic, this sometimes kicks actinic up the arse to recognise changes in the network settings

hopefully this bug will be fixed in v10, considering its been around for years

Well, the script didn't work at first, getting Microsoft error with Line 5. Sent error message back to Claire at support who used the software available to access my PC (amazing! Watching someone else work on your screen while drinking tea! )

Anyways, when we looked at the script the path to Site1 (even though i copied and pasted it to Claire) was slightly wrong somehow. She entered (I think) Run>RegEdit (or something like that) and navigated to Site1 and copied the path from there. Originally it was:

                      C:\Users\Beej\Documents\Actinic v9\Sites\Site1

but it the path she located it was slightly different. The ODD thing is i just opened the vbs file to paste the amended path here in this post to show you all the error and it's now the same as above? weird?

anyways, that seemed to be the issue, wrong path for ascript to run correctly but now, site is uploaded and all seems well

Just hope i don't have the same problem this week importing my REAL Network settings to upload the store? Do you think that is a possibility, especially after Darren said this issue has been '..around for years'.

Anyways, well worth the support contract i took out - 10 out of 10 for Support
