    Weird problem with laptop

    Hi All,

We have a v9.04 site which is running quite happily on a Win XP PRO SP3desktop machine here. We bought a new laptop with the idea of moving Actinic on to the laptop. I moved Actinic onto the laptop and instantly we started getting script errors and other things wrong. I can't seem to get to the bottom of this and wondered if anyone here can throw any light on it.

The laptop works fine in all other repects. It has Win XP PRO SP3 installed. I've even tried doing a fresh install and then installing Actinic to see if this would sort it out but we still have the same problem. When uploading Actinic goes through its routine as though everything is fine. You might get a merge error at the end. If you check the files that are actually uploaded many of them have obviously not been uploaded properly as they are incorrect sizes.

I've since moved Actinic back to the original desktop machine and it is behaving fine there. I am now running a test site on the laptop but the same is happening. I've even tried upgrading to the latest version of Actinic but still get the same problem. Actinic support can't throw any light on it.

Anyone got any ideas what is going wrong and how to fix it?

    Regards

    Steve

How did you move Actinic across?

You should be able to download Actinic on the laptop and install your latest snapshot?

Are they both running identical versions?

I take it you mean script errors online, you also mention uploaded files are corrupted... thus my only idea is a firewall or similar...?

webD: Hi, to move actinic across I did exactly as you said. Loaded an identical version on the laptop, took a snapshot of the site, loaded the snapshot on the laptop.

Pinbrook: Hi, I did mean corrupted scripts on the server, both machines run the same AV and firewall software, configured via our server so they should be identical.

Would knowing the actual error message help an expert track down the problem?

Thats the trouble, there is no error message! You only know when you try and use the site. You may get script errors or corrupt html pages or corrupt pictures, it seems totally random. Actinic does not report any errors uploading, maybe a merge error at the end but not always. If you check filesizes on the web server (via ftp) you can see that several files have not uploaded properly because they are the wrong size (i.e jpg should be 12k only 4k etc), most files upload fine.
