    Fragment

I'm trying to paste about 200 characters in to a fragment text box.

I'm unable to do this as I get an error saying "string data right truncated"

    Any advise would be appreciated

See here - Actinic's fix is to not use that many characters. Seriously.

Are you putting it in the title or the description field? I have much more than that in fragments and have no problems.

          Hi Lee,

its just in the text field e.g description... - In the fragment you have a field called text...

I deleted the fragment and recreated it and now get the following message

"an error occured prepairing a product for creation, string data, right truncated"

Also I can't reduce the content length as there would be not point in putting it into the catalog.

I have tried purging and compacting without any success..

Sounds like a database problem to me, support will be the place for that i'm afraid. Might be worth searching on that error message, i have certainly read it a few times on here. There may be a quicker answer than going to support.

Open your Site folder, then open ActinicCatalog.mdb in Microsoft Access, then Tools > Compact and Repair.

If you ain't got MS Access, you'll need to contact support.

That blurb is 435 characters, so you'd have to lose over half of it.

Is there a way of just increasing the field length?

The field length is fine as standard, yours is broken, hence you need to get it fixed, not bandaged up.

if you moan, whinge and complain long enough and loud enough, get the ticket handed over to someone who CAN fix it.
Trust me, there are people at Actinic Support who can (if it's fixable, that is)
You just have to yell loud enough

                          Thanks Tracey....

I think we dropped out support agreement as we found the forum more helpful. I think the last time I used them I had a database issue and they never really done anything.

                            OK,

What i have done is exported my catalog to file....

Deleted the access database and replaced it with the original...

                            All is now fine...

Problem is now ive lost all my catalog settings e.g term and conditions, payment methods etc.

Is there a way of exporting the catalog details with out the product details from the database.

I dont want to have to re enter all the details
