Generate Invoices in PDF format in Catalog

Hi

Does anyone know how I can generate a PDF version of our invoices - we need to email orders to our wholesalers who will dropship for us. I have used Crystal reports in the past but our computer has been wiped - I've tried to download it several times however when I go to the option to 'print' the invoice in Catalog it just prints rather than saving as PDF file as before :-/

Can anyone help ?

You will need to set your pdf printer to be the default printer on your computer before printing the invoice. You don't need Crystal Reports to be able to print to pdf.

Download "cutePDF" or the Mole End plugin has this as a facility I believe.

please dont pay for a feature that comes with your operating system as standard, do as drounding says: I dont know if its a feature of xp but under vista and windows 7 it comes as standard.

Thanks for the info everyone, very helpful. But why oh why will Actinic not address the issue of being able to send invoices by email without the hooha of print to pdf etc etc.

Not sure I understand you? Actinic can send all kinds of emails to the customer. You only need to print to a pdf creator if you want to send the receipt as a pdf. Seems logical to me.

Makes me wonder if this is a genuine post.

Mole End have two plugins that can export emails to PDF or send an email with a PDF invoice or packing list attached :

One Stop Order Processing, can be setup send emails to either a third party or to the customer that have an invoice attached (more details and free trial here http://www.mole-end.biz/acatalog/Mul...r-Actinic.html)

It's quicker than printing to a PDF printer and then attaching to an email because the files are named automatically (with the order number and the report type) and you can send either automatically as emails arrive or in batches.

I think they want the automatically generated email to contain a pdf - i could be wrong but im learnign to use my crystal ball more these days

I think it's better to suggest Actinic should do this rather than criticise that it doesn't? (I know, I'm a fine one to talk).

I wouldn't be surprised if Actinic looks at the invoicing / receipts side of things again sometime. What would help is if people asked for features explaining why they want them and how they'd like them to work.

it is probably posssible in newer versions of CR but i think actinic is still working on a old old old version - i might be wrong

as for people moaning (i dont so such things you understand), it seems to be path of the course these days, funny i thought there was a wish list section around here somewere

Not from within CR as it just outputs to a configured printer, be it pdf or otherwise. It would require external management such as is the case with Jan's OSA or OSOP etc. or in fact other utilities available such cViewBatch or similar.

Good point.

Which is why I wonder what all the fuss is about. Actinic can be set to print the invoice to pdf by default, so all that really needs to be added is the ability to add an external file to the 'order shipped' email.

Is there something else needed or is this it?
