Been bugging me for ages trying to get email to work on a Windows server. Eventually seem to have figured it out so I'm posting in case it helps others.
First, the TEST button in the Network settings for Windows servers does not work!
Settings that don't give me an error don't work, yet the combination below gives an error but DOES work on the live site.
First you need the smtp server address with is usually mail.thedomain.com
You also need the username, usually the email address and the password.
Important, in the business settings you MUST use the same email addrss as you use in the SMTP settings.
Even though this gives an error on the TEST button it does work on the live site for me.
