Stock Level Error

Hey,

We have recently upgraded from 9.0.4 to 9.0.5. The upgrade seemed to go OK.

However, we notice now that if we adjust the stock levels on a product, Actinic behaves as if the adjustment had never taken place.

For example, if an item had nothing in stock and we alter the numbers to show 5 in stock, we still get an out of stock error message if someone tries to order any of that item.

The reverse is also true in that if we adjust the stock to reflect that we don’t have the item, we don’t get the out of stock error message and indeed Actinic process as if the original quantity is still there.

It’s almost as though the displayed information on screen and the database at the back are out of step with each other. Or that the screen is displaying from one database but the processing is being done against a different one.

Is this a know issue with 9.0.5? Is there a work-around available? Or is there some action we can take to rectify this?

Yes we have uploaded the site which is where we first noticed the error.

We tried to put through an order of a new product we just launched and have all the sizes of, however when we tried to urchase any of the "complimentary accessories" we received the following error “The quantity you have entered exceeds our stock levels. Please enter a value less than or equal to -1”.

right, these 'complimentary accessories'
Are they components linked to products? Or permutations of the original product?

Can you give a link to an example product?

The "comlimentary Accessories" are set-up within the product details.

ah, right. You're using the related products with add to carts then.
And it's these products which aren't working correctly?
I'm guessing these products all have 'hidden' associated products for each size?
And I'm guessing you've had products set up the same as this which worked prior to upgrade??

Have you checked Settings > Site Options > Stock
Is that set to true or false?
It may have been 'true' in 9.0.4 and re-set itself to false during the upgrade to 9.0.5.

Something to check, if it was set up the same before upgrade and worked then.

I have just tried to open my Actinic in order to look at your suggestion but I have received a warning error which when I click ok to brings another one. I then get a message saying Actinic has failed and I need to try again but when I try to open it again I get the warning messages again.

I have put the warning message below,

"There was a problem with the database

Operation: Opening the [SetupInfo] table where nGroupID IN (1)

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'SetupInfo'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.

Action: Contact your Actinic reseller or Actinic Support as appropriate"

Have you ever seen this before or encountered this problem. Do you know how I can open Actinic since this keeps happening?

Have you been backing up regularly and taking snapshots or do you prefer the seat of your pants approach? If you have a backup, uninstall and import your last backup is probably the quickest solution. A search of the forum on that error message may also warrant some good ideas. In general i'd say something is trashed though in the database.

Have taken all advice offered and tried various things.

I uninstalled Actinic and did a clean full instal of v9.0.5 and the imported a recent snapshot. In fact I tried different snapshots but the problem is still there. Actinic opens and works but the doesnt recognise the stock levels when I change them to reflect the true situation.

I have also tried setting the Stock flag to true/false. Seems to make no difference.

So unfortunately, I seem to be still in the same position. The system wont allow people to roder goods that are in stock because it says there is no stock. And it lets people order items for which I have set the stock level to zero.

I am really struggling with this and have had to curtail and decline sales. So if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

Just to go back to basics, what settings do you have for stock levels in Actinic on the main product and the associated products, could you give an example of a product that is not working online and detail the settings in Actinic. Can you order these items offline?

Thanks for that. In my post #5 above I gave a link to a example product which isn't working properly. Here it is again for convenience.



We have set up stock levels for the complementary accessories - they are all in stock. But the system wil lnot allow any of them to be ordered because it thinks the stock level is zero.

I don't know what basics to go back to if the system will not recognise the stock levels we are telling it are there?

it's not the main product that is causing the problem, Jan. It's the 'related products' below that don't work when you add them to cart.

Jan's questions still stand though, Laura.

For these related items. What stock levels do you have on your MAIN product? (the one stated in the related products section of the bra)

Most importantly, do you have stock monitoring switched OFF on the main (related) product but enabled on its permutations/associated products??
