Any help available on how to, if possible, add a new link to the links bar to an off site web page, ie. blog?

Hi,
I'm using the Smart theme, although modified, mainly on colour so the links bar is just text with separators.
I wish to connect to a Wordpress blog.
OK, that didn't work I just get a link to the home page. How do I change this and insert the link URL into the code etc.
Also what would be the corresponding methods of linking back from the blog site to relevant pages within my store site?
