    Not your usual request........perhaps?

    Hi.

My business has been up and running for 7 weeks now. I've run a 'Summit' report on the site, urm...... and got a score of 49%, is that good or not?

    Anyway my question.

Is there anyone who understands Actinic V9 and SEO that is local to me in the Southampton area. I feel that I may be needing some professional help regarding SEO etc, and that trying to do it for 'free' over the forum is not the best use of my time, not to mention misunderstandings that can happpen on-line.

    The website is www.improvemygolf.co.uk

    Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Graham - not so much an SEO reply (although it can impact) but noticed on your section images you are using a very large image and scaling it down to fit which can take some time to render the page. Best to either scale in Photoshop or there is some PHP code that can generate thumbnail versions of your images on the fly.

      Hi.

I've resized all the images in photoshop to one size. The developer then did some code to allow that one image to be used in all setions of the website and resize automatically for each section. I hope that makes sense. The idea was that I would only need one image in my site1 folder.

Not sure I've explained that properly.

I think you are talking about browser resizing, which is the very worst way as opposed to actual resizing. Ask him whether he has implemented a script to do the resizing or just set it up for browser resizing. If he says browser resizing, then i'd ask him to do it properly via a script. The only advantage of browser resizing is that it's quick and dirty, everything else is bad with that solution.

          I think I understand what you're saying.

The developer has been incredibly good to me, and I believe that we have a good relationship. I wouldn't want to put that to him in that way.

But, if it is this problem, will it effect SEO capabilities?

Depends how you look at things Graham and whether in fact he has added browser resizing, we are only guessing at the moment. What you're saying though is that i'm ok to steal from your wallet as long as i'm shaking your hand and smiling while i do it?

It simply has to effect SEO as page loads could be horrendous in theory.
