I have added new variables for my products into the properties panel (I assume this is the correct panel from all I have read) and this is all fine. However I have a large number of products which I need to import (using hierarchical file) with these extra variables and i just can not seem to be able to do this. I have exported to a file but my extra variables do not show in this. I was then going to use the exported file to include all my prods with extra variables and import again. The other problem is as follows: Each product has a section. I add a new product with all new variables data and this is fine, however when I export it and when import the same file the product extra data is gone and all these user defined variables show (use parent). I have checked the product variables and the details and nothing seems to be set to refer to the section. I have really tried to find answers to this before posting as I am obviously fairly new to this but I just have not been able to find this info. I would greatly appreciate a point in the right direction.

The simplest way to get to grips with hierarchical file importing is, as you tried, by exporting making changes and reimporting again.
Did you first create some complete examples in Actinic including populating the new variables before exporting the catalog?
Product variables need to be added as columns onto the end of the product lines - as well as including the variable name in the product header line. -
I did eneter some products with all the new variables (in the properties tab) before exporting. When I exported the file none of the new product variables and values showed. I am obviously missing something basic and I am not sure what you mean about populating before exporting

I think you've done what I mentioned.
Did you create the variable scoped to Product?
And when you filled in some of the data before exporting did you do this in the properties tab at Product level?Comment
