Default shipping country in checkout - set up UK

Hi,

In the checkout area how do I have United Kingdom as the default shipping country and remove 'Select country' from drop down menu?

So basically United Kingdom is shown in the drop down menu and not 'Select country'.

I still want to ship to other countries, I simply want the drop-down menu to default to 'United Kingdom' instead of 'Select Country'. Because we ship 90% of orders to the UK it's one less thing the customer has to do.

You need to edit the 'Delivery Country List' layout. You can get to it in the Library or in the Design View by selecting 'Checkout Page 0' and clicking on the dropdown list in the Preview Page window. Use 'Click here to edit layout list settings' to open up the list editor and in the Overall Design tab, change the 'Start of List:" to have only this line:

<select id="lstDeliveryCountry" name="LocationDeliveryCountry">

This should remove 'Select Country' from the list and leave you with United Kingdom as the default.
