    moving hidden products with associations

hello, i have created some hidden products that have associations for the shipping weights, in a hidden subsection and i want to move them further up the tree to make them easier to manage/find as they're currently in a section that will eventually contain real products.

i just want to move them really to tidy things up in the tree, if i attempt to cut/paste i get this:

Warning: Some of the products in the section are associated with one or more product permutations. If you continue, the selections that are associated will be marked as invalid choices.
so: i created another subsection where i wanted it it and copied/pasted instead as a backup, if i delete the 'originals' will i lose the shipping weights that are asociated with them still?

and if so, is there an easier way to move these hidden products without affecting what they relate to?

    thank you

the problem is, if you 'copy' and paste, you will either have to create duplicates (which won't 'work' if you cut the original) or you'll have to rename them, in which case you'll lose the associations anyway.

If you 'cut', Actinic thinks you're removing something for good, hence the warning about resulting invalid permutations.
Have you tried just dragging and dropping them to where you want them?
I have a feeling though that Actinic sees the 'drag and drop' process as 'cut and paste' also though (ISTR mentioning this myself before) and you'll get the same result.

I'm not sure there's an easy answer, tbh
You could, if you're confident in Access, try changing the section ID that the products are allocated in the database?
I guess it's probably in there somewhere but make sure you a) are confident about what you're doing first and b) backup, backup, backup!

I can't see another way round it although someone else might?

thank you for the reply tracy, been a while since i've played with access so i might have to resort to plan b which is just to leave them where they are, it was more of a tidying up thing really, they're not doing any harm where they are so i'll have to just leave them there.
