    Lost my front page...

    Hi

My site is currently live on a shared server, running v8. See www.grand-illusions.com/acatalog/

I am planning to upgrade to v9 and to move to a dedicated server. I have v9 on my compter, and have imported a snapshot. However when I upload to the dedicated server at http://87.84.217.68/acatalog/ the index page does not appear in the way it does on the live server.

At the top level in my 'Content Tree' I have a section called the Grand Illusions Toy Shop - it has the little house next to it, and in the General tab I have ticked the 'Use as Website Home Page' box. However despite this, I seem to be uploading the Online Catalogue page as the index.html page.

I guess something has got lost in the snapshot import from v8. I have read a number of forum postings, but cannot see an answer to this.

The rest of the site seems to be working ok, although there are issues with SagePay that I have not yet addressed.

    Thanks

    Hendrik

No, that is the home page of the Grand Illusions web site, and is created outside Actinic.

Actinic lives in the /acatalog/ folder

Actinic has 2 index pages, are you aware of this?

        One is:

        www.domain.co.uk/index.html

        and the other

        www.domain.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

The later is your store top, the first one is the Page with the house next to it...

The fact that you have another index page on the server maybe causing you the issue?

im guessing v8 is using custom fragments and these have not come across to v9.

in other words, actinic does not know what to know what to do as it does not have the layout try changing these to a standard fragment layout then upload and see if they display then

Strangely enough, if I click the Preview button, everything looks fine.

You'll need to setup a .htaccess file to do the diversion for you (lots of info in here and on the web), but it's not a great idea and i'd advise against it. If you are struggling for ideas on what to do on the home page, then have a look round at some successful actinic sites to get some inspiration, you'll be missing a trick by not using it, it's the single most important page of your site.

use something like this in your htaccess file

                    Redirect 301 /oldpage.html http://www.example.com/newpage.html
