How to Download (or Upload) Values for Custom Variable

Does anyone know how I can download a list of values that already have been input for a custom variable? Alternatively is there a way of uploading a list of values into a custom variable? Looked at the database and couldn't work it out...

If you export the catalog you will see the CVs and their values. You an also import chnages and new values for the CVs using a hierarchical import.
