How do i delete a section with a reoccurring error?

Hi,

It appears that i have a reoccurring error on my 'specials' section. If i click on the section, the egg timer curser shows and actinic freezes. Is there another way to delete a section without using the content tree?

Not easy. Try turning off all the display windows (like the Preview one) and see if that gets you further. They're the 2nd through 5th entries on the Window menu.

export - delete the section - import might be another way, you don't have to select it then to do that.

thanks for help - i have tried turning all the windows off, Norman, but problems still persist.
Will try Export / Import method.

Backup your database first and remember to select Replace rather than Update when importing back in.

Have you tried repairing the MDB with Access?

Or reimporting a previous snapshot

Exported site, saved original. Removed the 'specials' section and uploaded. The section had gone, however, the formatting of the Home page and many of the other sections were completely out?

Tried reloaded the original saved file but site now shows the same formatting errors as above?

The original problem occurred when i tried to change the layout of the 'Specials' Section and clicked on the wrong layout from the drop down menu by accident.

can you perhaps go into the Design Library and reset the layout back to default?

Thanks for help - exported revised site minus offending 'specials' section and found out that during this process, some of the brochure sections had defaulted back to original page layouts and on some pages, text and images were deleted.

All back to normal!

Last year i posted a thread for some help on doing a site snap shot backup. To date, we have still never been able to do this. The process starts, then after 30seconds Actinic shuts completely without warning. I would really appreciate your comments

Problems with backups can be down to lots of things. One which used to affect us until we worked out the reason, was other software e.g. backup software running at the same time.

We dont currently run any software backup..
