Non standard product aka Special order

    Hi guys,

We do over 150 different varieties in various packs, usually this is good enough for the customer, however, there are times when they would like order some thing different usually over the phone.

We have done in the past a standard special product where you enter the quantity and details in the text prompt, price is set at £0.01. Then the order is adjusted manually, which is all bit messy.

Is there away of doing the same process, having special order, entering it's details, quantity and price? Would be great if there is.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, take care M

If you're taking the order over the phone you can set an option to allow you to over-ride the price.

You can enter additional information for a product. Set the "Other Info Question" on the product to be "Special requirements" and enter them there.

      Thanks for the reply.

We currently have a hide product for each delivery period called special order, as the order is taken on the phone, the person would select the correct delivery period special, use the Other Info Question to describe the special "Leeks - Bandit x 100" and the quantity I guess would a single unit.

Setting up this option on price would make it work so how do you do that?

If you create one or more components below a product, then put attributes under the component, then with the "permutations" tab on the component you can make any combination of atributes resolve to a product. So a single product can have sub-products and the total charged can be the total of the product and sub-product.

I'm just trying to give clues here as it's quite complex. Have a play around and see what you think.

Hi, I had a play with this, I have not managed to find away how to override the price but set up a component with an attribute this has price choices. So it enables the person taking the order to select a standard price from one of the choices, hopefully, a suitable price will be available.

It is a work around, not as clean as I hoped but a solution. I hoped it would be possible to have an open choice where you just type in the price.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks M
