Orders Downloading Into 1 Database

Hey Everybody

Long time no posting...

I have a question for the more tech minded Actinic Geeks out there.

We are trying to work out a way to get our sites to all download into one database. We don't use actinic to process the orders and so in essence we just want them to all download into 1 database so that we can import them from there. We are going to be running over 50 live sites in the end and the current method is just too time consuming and unstable. Has anyone tried to crack this? Or even started thinking about it? We would be happy to join forces and try work it out.

thanks for that. i'm ideally looking for something more like your one stop order system but on the web. We are finding that downloading orders to each individual database on the network is just to glitchy and we need something more robust. Ideally all actinic website checkouts go to one location and we download orders from one database on the web. Is this possible?

Do you currently automate the downloading of these orders? With Actinic, I think the only way you can "automatically" have a central repository of orders from multiple sites is to get Actinic to cycle through the various sites, downloading orders then exporting these orders to something like the OneStopOrder or some other order repository, automatically.
I cannot see a way to combine the Actinic sites so that orders process into one checkout.

Yes we download them onto the individual databases and then run a script to import them into a central processing hub. But the downloading from each individual site when gets to double figures is very unreliable as the access databases are very unstable and crash often. We want to consolidate all the orders into one database online where we have a download from a single directory. Any ideas ?

You could modify the Order Script to create order files in your own format on each site and then run a scheduled script on your PC to scan all your sites, download these files and import them into your order-processing database.

now we talking. any ideas on what script we start playing with? We comfortable to a point in script, just need a little guidance? I tink this would be a hit if we can crack this.

You need to look at OrderScript.pl
It's pretty complex, so be prepared for some head scratching!

Sorry if my lack of technical knowledge is obvious, but:

Could you amend the script for each Actinic website to put the orders on to only one database? So Site 1, Site 2, Site 3, all point towards the order datsbase for Site 1?

Then downloading the orders for Site 1, would get them all?

It depends a bit on your payment methods. You could generate the order files at the "receipt" phase in the ProcessPage subroutine, but you may want to wait for a PSP callback, in which case you need to look at the CallOCCPlugIn sub.
