Random emails not coming through

Hi,

For the last couple of years we have had no issues with the emails coming through to us advising that we had an order and the second email showing the details of the order.

However, over the last 8 days all we seem to get the email saying we have an order ' A new catalog order has been received at your web site since you last downloaded'

.....but the other email detailing the order comes through only 50% of the time.

I have seen another thread talking about this but I think it was a few years ago and not sure what the outcome was.

As you may know the customer must return to the receipt page for the email to be sent but if the number of email you are receiving has recently changed then it may be a hosting issue.

Does a network test pass OK?

This is the error seen in your error file on your site:

Program = MailScri, Program version = 17583 , HTTP Server = Apache/1.3.41 , Return code = 999 , Date and Time = 2010/01/31 07:37, Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (4: SMTP Authentication turned on in your email client.

Try turninog authentication off and setting the SMTP server to Localhost if it isn't already.
