'Easy & quick' customer account upload?

From what I can see by looking at the knowledge base, customer accounts are uploaded/modified as part of the very last (MergeDiff.pl) stage.

Is it possible to use the 'generate scripts' option and then upload a file (maybe the MergeDiff.pl file) manually?

At the moment due to the size of the site, adding one new customer account takes nearly an hour. This does seem quite crazy considering the actual data exchange required to do this can only be a few KB.

If anyone knows how this might be completed manually I can make someone very happy

Try right clicking on any section and selecting to just publish that page, you might find that it will upload the file as part of that as it does send other files that have been renewed or changed. That will be much quicker then.
