layout changes not updating

I've made some changes to my primary page layout. with offline preview it all looks fine. then when i upload its not updated.

Viewing the source i notice its still displays the code from previous layout.

I've checked the sections and they are set to the correct layout.

Any ideas if i'm missing something?

Try a website refresh after a database compact.

You could also try refeshing the page in your browser

umm. i've compacted and refreshed 3 times, still nothing different. its weird.

Sure its not a browser cache problem? open the page in your browser and press CTRL-F5 a few times.

I've seen this following an upgrade, if you've just upgraded then this might be worth a go....

Change the outer layout completely to one of the standard themes say and upload, then reapply the outer layout you want and upload again.

No upgrade, just tweaking things.

Anyway, I've just looked on the server and the HTML page dates say 09/02/2010. 3 days ago.

I've uploaded lads of times since then and 3 complete web refreshes. Actinic said everything was uploaded and merged okay. weird.

Must be something up on the server end. will contact them.

Change something on the page, apply it and then change it back, so it realises something has changed.

Try renaming a page online via ftp and then doing an upload and see if the page appears.

I've renamed the file. It put back in the original file but the modified date is the same as 3 days ago.

I've also changed the template by adding a bit of text. It doesn't update.

Have you checked that the page name is still exactly the same as before and matches exactly the page you are viewing online, as a small change would create a new URL while still leaving the old one on the server.

Might also be worth checking your network settings to make sure you're not uploading to a different place than you think

Seems the entire site ended up in the cgi-bin.

I've added a line in the box which says "Path from CGI-Bin to Online folder...." and its worked.

Don't know why, its worked fine without it for 4 years.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, its good to work through the process of elimination.
