    Coupon Code Issue

    Hi there,

I have just added a couple of coupon codes to a client's web site. These are percentage based and I want them to give 10% discount on the total value of an order when one of two coupon codes is entered.

However, what is currently happening is the discount is applied to all orders, regardless of whether a coupon code is entered or not and, in fact, both of the discounts I've entered are applied meaning a total of 20% discount is applied to all orders.

I've checked my settings in Marketing | Discounts & Surcharges and they look correct. Settings as follows:
    - Order Level: Enabled - Checked
    - Based On: Cart Value Including Default Tax
    - Type: Percentage
    - Trigger: Cart Value: £0, Percentage: 10.00
    - Miscellaneous: Allow Only One Value Discount Per Order - Checked
    - Coupon Codes: Allow Coupon Code Entry In Checkout - Checked

I'm sure I've had coupons working previously without this problem, so I'm baffled as to why we're having trouble now.

Can anyone advise as to why this might be happening?

Web site in question is http://www.socksolutions.co.uk

    Many thanks,
    Simon

Probably a silly question but have ticked 'Requires Coupon Code' and entered a coupon code for the end user to use? (I don't see it in your settings you have listed)

      Hi Chunkford,

Yes, sorry - missed off my list of settings, but already done inside Actinic.

      Thanks,
      Simon

Does anyone else have any ideas what might be causing the problem described above?

Another three hours of ferreting around in the Knowledge Base and on the forums haven't yielded anything that has helped solve the problem.

        Thanks,
        Simon

Can you delete both and try just setting one up first. Make sure that works, then create the second. This usually fixes things when coupons have me baffled with unexplained problems. Sounds like a global discount and a coupon are being used, i can't see how a coupon can fire a double discount or that of another otherwise.

            Hi Lee,

Thanks for that suggestion - the 'delete everything and try again' approach does indeed appear to have worked. Very strange.

            Much appreciated,
            Simon

Cool, i've never worked out whether it is me or the system when this happens, my money is on me though .

Okay, this issue has reared it's head again and I suspect I know the answer to the question, but can't find it in writing anywhere.

                The problem is this:
-- When I create a coupon-based discount in Actinic Designer and publish my client's web site, everything is hunky dory and works fine.

-- However, when I then export a site snapshot and send it to my client who is using Actinic Catalog, they change the site in some way and republish only for the coupon discounts to be completely ignored and every order on the web site then gets a discount applied.

Having just talked the problem through with my client, they can see Marketing > Discounts & Surcharges but cannot see the "Requires Coupon Code" checkbox and related fields.

I suspect therefore that Coupon Codes are not available in Actinic Client, only order value based discounts. Can anyone confirm this?

                Thanks,
                Simon

Find out what the upgrade costs will be first and present that to your client. If they really want coupons they may be prepared to make the change.

Already done, thanks. I've emailed my account manager at Actinic and I'm waiting for a reply. I'm hoping there's an upgrade cost, as opposed to just having to pay the fee for Business Client outright.

I'm certain there is. Could you post your finding here?

                          Thanks,

I have a reply from Actinic and apparently there isn't an upgrade path from Catalog to Business Client, so you need to pay the difference between the two. Not great news, by any stretch.
