adding a new font to actinic

is it possible to add a new font to actinic to use for the bulk of the text ?

Yes, you can either add another font family to the variable that controls this area, or you can go direct to the stylesheet and add your own directly to the body class. First option is the best to take as you get used to using and finding variables in the design library and retain site options as the master area for stuff like this.

I presume that you mean a font for your website that the customers can see when they look at your pages.

Your customers will be using a variety of web-browsers and you can only specify a font that they're likely to have on their system. Nothing to do really with the fonts on your Actinic system. This usually restricts you to a very limited set of fonts.

There are techniques for embedding your own fonts and delivering them with your pages. Try googling for tutorials on how to do this - "custom fonts on web site" would be a good starting point.

There are also copyright issues. You can't just deliver a proprietary font to the world without permission.

hadnt thought about the copy right etc, i was just wanting to use something like comicsans as its designed for use with people with reading problems so very easy to understand in theory and installed on most computers, so would it be a copyright breach ?

As long as you use something like

arial, verdana, tahoma ie san serif fonts you will be ok

it is serif fonts such as times new roman that causes readability issues.

Dont use comic - it is so yesterday.

The common fonts are not subject to copyright, thus i would stick with those.

You might want to check out this site before committing what is regarded my many as a cardinal sin these days.
