    Database Issue

This morning we logged onto actinic as usual, downloaded the orders and printed some off then went and did other things came back and actinic had closed...

no when we try to access our main site it comes up with
Actinic failed to open the database DSN=ActinicCatalog9.
The database may be corrupt or the version may be newer than expected.
    This prevents Actinic working.

    The error was:

Cannot open database '(unknown)'. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
    Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed

Please refer to the troubleshooting section in the MU Installation and User guide for possible solutions.
    Then
Your system isn't configured correctly and Actinic cannot function. This is normally caused by the database components currently installed, and is acknowledged by Microsoft as a problem (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/te...redistmdac.htm).

In most cases it can be corrected by installing the latest copy (at least version 2.1.2.4202.3) of "Microsoft Data Access Components" or "MDAC" which can be downloaded from Microsoft. MDAC 2.6 is also supplied on the on Catalog install CD. If need to download it from Microsoft, click on the first link below to open your browser at the relevant page, and then follow the appropriate links.

After installing the new version of MDAC you may have to uninstall and then reinstall Actinic to obtain full functionality.

If you require any further assistance please contact your vendor. Contact details are available by clicking on the second link below.
Anyone any ideas? this is happening on 2 pc's and the only change seems to be a 3am windows update that installed "Software distribution service 3.0"

    Stephen.
It would be worthwhile trying to repair the Database, either through MS Access or as described in the last post in this thread.
There have been a few posts on the forum about this issue. Worth a google search on "Actinic failed to open the database DSN="

        Hi Stephen,
for the sake of other forum users can you confirm that the repair resolved the issue?

Database corruptions can happen for a number of reasons. I'd recommend you backup Actinic and then defragment your hard drive as well. This can give performance improvements - especially for larger sites that have not been compacted and defragged for a long time.

I can confirm that the database repair resolved the issue,

You basicly (Under Windows XP Anyway) just go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Microsoft ODBC Administrator

Then click configure, Repair, Point it to your Actinic database that is having the issue and it should work its magic.

We backup every night on closing actinic and the systems are all set-up to automaticly backup everything to our servers and defrag

Still trying to convince the boss to let us get actinic cover and V10
