I cant seem to send emails anymore

I dont remember making any changes to my settings, but i seem to have lost the ability to do the following:

Send emails to customers from their order - i used to be able to send them a copy invoice or just a thank you, but this has stopped working and i get an ftp error.

Receive a copy of the order - i used to get an email to ell me what had been ordered, now i have to log on and download them to see what peeps want.

Contact form - i havent checked but a customer said she tried to contact me through the website and it wouldnt work.

so im thinking these are all related.

    Im using actinic catalogue V9,

    anyone got any ideas?

    1. run a network test.

    2. Look in your error.err log

    report back anything relevant.

It might be a problem with the email server. First step would be Network Setup run a test and see whether it comes up with errors?.

Edit: Further to the last post the Error log at error.err comes up with "Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (1: 535 5.7.0 authentication failed".

I have a similar problem where the customer is not getting the "we are processing your order" email and our shipping details email from the email facility withing the order tabs. They are emailing in asking if we have recieved their order as they have had no confirmation email. All tests in network setting report ok!
Thanks in advance for any remarks

            1. Have you ticked the box 'Send receipt email to customer'?
            2. Do the other emails from within actinic go out OK?
            3. Which website is this on?
            4. Which PSP? Paypal has problems as the customer often doesn't return to the receipt page.

We had this problem as well, as well as a long list of other problems that were all down to the hosting.

We hosted at Supanames (now 123 reg) and slowly over time everything started to slow, or fail. Every time we contacted the host they told us it was software at our end.

Last week we moved from Supanames to Pinbrook and you wouldn't believe the difference in speed of sending e-mails etc

Are you with a host that understands and caters for Actinic?
              Regards

This looks like a hosting issue.
Your host may have reset your FTP password. If you have a control panel check the FTP account username and password.
                      Who's your host?

I've checked the ip address and password. I've reloaded the site just in case too.

I'm not sure of the relationship between the FTP IP address and the website IP address. Should they be the same?
Because they're not in your case. Website is 79.170.40.171.

Ah, I see this is normal. Ignore.

                              How about posting network settings?
