simple hit counter gets repeated 4 times when code is only inserted once

when I try and insert a block of code after the last fragment on my home page for example, this gets repeated after each fragment, instead of just being inserted into the page just once.

any ideas why this happens?

You've probably put the code into a sub-layout.

Without a clearer description of what you're doing and exactly where you're putting said code (name of amended layout) there's not much more anyone can suggest.

Why use a Hit Counter at all? They are so 1990's, use Google Analytics, search for them in the forum lots of info on how to set it up. Its free and much better

I wanted to use Google Analytics but one of the guides I looked at looked too complicated.

If someone can provide a simple guide to getting it to work with v8 executive theme I would use it!!!
