    Sub Domains

    Hi,

I’m finding the market here in the UK very hard for my products... There doesn't seem to be much money around :-)

So im thinking of spreading my wings and taking on the European motorcycle market.

My question is about multiple domains with actinic.

I’m going to have to build a few sites in the languages i want to market but i was hoping to do this using sub domains.

When I tried this before I had issues with my CGI BIN setup.

Can anyone give advise on how this should be setup?

It depends on your server and how they target the cgi-bins. Some allow cgi-bin to to created manually at any level and some only allow a static location so sharing could be an issue - you may be able to use different ID numbers in the network settings.

Have checked with fasthosts and I believe the CGI is shared.

I do remember having issues with this last time...

How do other people manage multiple language sites?

Suppose you buy a domain then host it in the relevant country, that way you have the relevant country related IP address for your site.

Give up now or find a new host

          Never give up

          e.g for Germany

Suppose I will have to buy a .de domain name
          Find a host in Germany
Convert the site via a translator who has local knowledge
Change my keywords - Content, titles and meta tags into German.

That would be the best solution.

You are not going to find anyone here who recommends fasthosts for actinic, but if you do persist and it's a shared bin you can use different script numbers to differentiate the sites.

For seo you need to host in the country or have the country specific tld domain

Is your current domain 4-motorcycles.co.uk as in your homepage on the forum ?

              It doesn't appear to exist.
