    Email probelms within Actinic

My email doesn't work in actinic, however exactly the same setting work in outllook.

Under advanced network setting I get the following error messages when I try and test communication:

The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again. If it fails again, then it is possible, you were locked out by a firewall program, or you don't have network connection to this server.

    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    server: passed
    connection: passed
    sockets: passed
    communications: failed
    authorisation: failed
    message:

My e mail used to work fine, but recently I have had to change SMPTserver name due to change at my service provider.

    Have you tried localhost instead?

What was the smtp before you changed it , what is it now? Why did your provider ask you to change it?

      Have you tried localhost?

        To answer your questions:

The SMPT used to be something like relay.clara etc etc

The SMPT I am using now is: smtp-vh.clara.net

This was as per instructions from my host which is clara.co.uk.

See attached file of SMPT recommended mail setting and actinic set-up.

What do you mean 'have I tried local host?' - I do I do that?

        Thanks for you help.

In network settings where it says smtp server replace the clara address with the word localhost

            Thanks for your help.

See attached picture - it says localhost is not a valid server

            Any ideas?

The error message seems to imply that you've entered "localhost ". I.e. with a trailing space. Make sure you've not got a trailing space and try again.

Also, if using localhost, you probably won't need "Username and Password Required" to be checked.
