    v10 downgrade?

I've started to develop a site for a client using v10. I've since discovered he's running Business Plus v9 for a number of sites and has no intention to upgrade. Is there some way for me to convert my v10 site to work in v9? I tried snapshots and design snapshots, but as I expected they didn't work. I'd be grateful of any suggestion, or even just advice on the best way to do this manually...

What's wrong with copy-pasting between the two versions?

Sone suggestions (try on test site before letting loose on real ones and backup first):

      1) Products / Sections. File / Export will create a textfile containing an Hierarchical Export of the Product Tree. You can try File / Import to move this into V9. See (2) for a note of things you may have to edit out.

      2) Design. If you export a Partial Site Design containing your layout modifications, you'll also find a file called Act_DesignExport.txt in your Site folder. This is a hierarchical text file containing the design elements. You can edit this file to remove any V10 specific lines and try importing the result into V9, again via File / Import. I've successfully used this to move bits of the Library from V10 to V9.

Note that design layouts will probably contain many new to V10 sub-Layouts and Variables so you may need some pre-post export-import editing.

Lee - That's what I'm doing, but it's a big job and I want to be careful not to miss anything.

Norman - Thanks, I'll give that a go, cheers. I'm expecting quite a bit of tidying and editing...

The design library indicates anything you've changed, takes seconds to move over each item, I'm not understanding the huge amount of time, pretty sure I could convert any v10 site to v9 in 2 hours max, no matter how many changes. You do have them both open at same time I take it?

            yes I do...

Two hours is still a fair chunk of time, although I suspect I'd take longer.

If they told you they were running v10 you should be able to charge for the extra work involved.

                Ian,

Not sure about this but i suspect Lee might be suggesting you can copy and paste whole sections across at the same time. Not just text content from entry fields.

Of course I could be completely wrong on this. Just trying to make sure you're both talking about the same thing.
